United European Gastroenterology Week (UEGW) 2026 was recently held to great acclaim in Barcelona and online, from October 17 – 20.

This year, 122 countries participated, 5407 total abstracts were accepted, and 14100+ delegates were registered to attend. The penultimate event for digestive health experts continues to grow year after year.

Our Help Yourself dietitian Dr Kerith Duncanson, and colleague Professor Nick Talley from the Centre of Research Excellence in Transforming Gut Health, presented their own posters, and on behalf of CRE-TGH researchers.

Dr Kerith Duncanson presented data on the oral microbiome and disorders of gut-brain interaction, on behalf of  Stella-Maris Egboh, “Investigating The Oral Microbiome As A Possible Biomarker For Disorders Of Gut Brain Interaction” .

“It was a great session and very well attended (considering it was the last day)”, Dr Duncanson reported on Stella-Maris Egbohs’ presentation. “Attending events such as UEGW is vital as a clinician and researcher – the opportunity to share our research and learn from others in the field is invaluable.”

Dr Duncanson also  presented her work with Dr Emily Hoedt:  “Microbiome‑driven Histidine Metabolism Contributes To Histamine Signalling In Irritable Bowel Syndrome”.

Congratulations to Kerith, and all CRE-TGH researchers who had abstracts and posters accepted.
